On the Saturday afternoon of 20th November 2021, took place our first official tasting in the presence of sommelier Roberta Galli, trained from Fisar in Milan.
We tested two vertical tastings of our Barbera del Monferrato doc and Grignolino d'Asti doc, as well as a table wine based on Freisa: both produced so far in different kind of vintages and among them, in a growing scale from the most "light” to the “strongest” ones (in terms of alcohol degrees).
The public was mainly consisted of friends and relatives. Everyone was extremely curious about the sommelier's judgment and to finally have an answer to the question that has been holding us for about 4 years, ever since we started this adventure in the world of wine:
Is this a particular wine?
Each wine, in their generality, positively surprised the judgment of Roberta Galli: Being the first vintages of production from our wine cellar, we can say that we are on the right path to define our wine identity.
Some limited number of bottles produced, overripe harvests, a few hectares and a small cellar: all of this reminded the sommelier of the juxtaposition of ‘VignetiBarbaraMariano’ and the movement of "garagisti" (in French it would be "vin de garage"). I personally did not know the definition of those who try to produce unique and particular wines, starting from small plots of old vineyards.
We are honored by the approach of this group of "extreme and pure" winemakers: Our main purpose is the desire to produce an out of the ordinary and particular wine, without compromises: you either love them or you hate them and we certainly take this approach as a potential for the future.
See you at our next wine tasting.
